Last year hie p~layed in the qualifying rounds and one or two matches in both the Do- troit district and western amateur tournaments. His duties at thbe Univer- sity here kept him out of the district tournament this year, and the 'Western tournament was held at St. Paul, which is outside the range of Wells' travels in the course of the school year.
