To the Editor of the Daily: The qucstion of extravagance of the Athletic Board rests entirely on the official report published in Tuesday's Daily, wvhich stated that $1,500 was paid for repairs to toe graid-stand and erection of bleachers. If this was cor- rect the board has been very extrava- gant in the matter. In the past it has not been supposed that a s-ledule for eithor baseball or football was formed with the intention of canceling the games. It is true that it might rain on a Saturday, but the games would then even probably be only postponed. Not a home game was canceled in either last year's baseball or this year's football schedule. But, even allowing it should be there is no reason why a ticket for the extra game should not be given to the purchaser of the season ticket aioy more than it would be allowable for the S. L. A. to sell a course ticket admitting to all but the leading attraction of the course, under the idea that the prominent speaker may be sick and not come. Taking the reasoning of the intelligent "Board Member," however, the ex- pense to the citizen who does not pay to see the canceled game would be the same to the student. Again, it is claimed that a student should pick out the poorest game and lse his ticket on the other six. This is what some do, and yet complaint is made of the poor support of the team at the minor games. If the "Board Member" had been present, at the Notre Dame game (the sixth of the series) and seen the ground around the ticket office, covered with punched tickets, and heard the forcible' expressions of the ticket holders as they realized that an additional 50 cents was necessary to see the game with Ohio State, the best in the series, his faith in the system might have been shaken. Such a result as this is certainly a great encouragement to the students to buy a ticket next sea- son. It Is of course to he expected t hat IDNIGIIT IN S.1. A. Course Ex-Pres.
