Yesterday afternoon copies of the U. of M. Daily (woman's edition) were at a premium. Every Book store on State St. and all the news dealers were besieged for copies by those who had found too late that the edition was so valuable as to be exhausted within a few hours after placed on sale. Mr. Schleede, who had put the few copies remaining Saturday even- ing in his show window over Sunday, states that he found anxious co-ed buyers awaitingE him Molday morn- fog when he oened up the store, to get the Dailies before thy were gone. The Daily received orders today for over 300 more copies from newsdeal- ers and bookstores but was unable to fill a single one. Stofflet, the news- dealer, says that 1,000 more could easily have been sold. A larger number would have been issued could this demand have been forseen but past experience did not warrant the management in printing a great number of copies of such an expensive edition, without a large number of advance orders. But no energetic canvass was made among the women, and consequently the edi- tion was necessarily made a limited one, in fact, one that would, if com- pletely sold, simply clear tile expenses of publication. The Daily regrets that it cannot for this reason announce any earnings from the edition for the Women's League, but it is glad to have given the women of te Univer- sity an opportunity to have brougiet themselves before the University pub- lic so favorably, through its columns. Articles btt Michigan Professors. Among the papers and publications "which have recently appeared frot the pen of Michigan professors are the following: The American Journal of Physi- ology for December 1, 1899, contains two articles by Professor Warren P. Lombard and Dr. W. B. Pillsbury of ltst medical and literary departments, respectively, Tle titles ofdthe articles are: (1) A New Form of piston Re- corder and Some of the Changes of the Volume of the Finger Which it Records, and (2) Secondary Rhythms of the Normal Human Heart. The first article is descriptive of a modi- fication and an improvement of the piston recorder apparatus. The sec- ond article gives an account of some of the results obtained with the modi- fied apparatus. Profesor George Hempl and Dr. Benjamin P. Bourland 'will read papers at the meeting of the Modern Language Association in New York City December 27-29. The titles of two recently published articles by Dr. A. S. Warthin, instruc- tor in pathology are: (1) A Primary Polymorphouseell Sarcoma of the Nose, With Universal Metastasis and Formation of a Free Sarcomatous Mass in the Right Ventrical Cavity and (2) The Co-existence of Carcino- ma and Tuberculosis of the Mam- mary Gland. The first appeared in the New York Medical Journal of June 24, 1899. and the second in the July number of the American Journal of Medical Sciences. The Therapeutics of Respiratory Diseases is the ....e of an article by Dr. W. B. Hinsdale which is an- nounced for the January number of the Medical Century. Wrinkle The Christmas Wrinkle appears to- day and seems to maintain, in every way, the standard set in past num- bers. The cover page in red and black is striking and a pleasing re- minder of Christmas. The centre page-a mistletoe scene-is by White- head. Charlie Baird is the favorite. Some of the verse by Kirk and Marshall is very good and the jokes are even brighter than usual. A new department "Wrinkle Philosophizing" is a welcome innovation. The price of the number despite the special cover is but ten cents and the num- ber should have a good reception. EUTHYMOL Anteptic Tooth and Moth Wash, 25c Bottle.
