It has been stated that good root-
ing has been the cause of the success
pressed by their opponents. Along
with rooting which is generaly
thought of as including merely the
yells and songs of the student body
comes the need of a college band-
a group of students who can not only
fill in the intermissions of a game
with good music, but who can also
strike up the tunes which cause
those cold chills of enthusiasm to
shoot up one's back when the team
comes on the field.
Due to some misunderstanding the
U. of M. band was disbanded last
year and there is at present no mu-
sical organization of this kind here.
In other words, the team mu~st de-
tend upon0the cheers of the students
for all the rooting it gets.
Already the students have begun
to talk about the needs of a band
and with the many games coming on
now it is certainly time that some
thing was done There are more

Moreover such reports are common
at this time of year so we can only
speculate as to the verity of the one
in question. If it is true we are in-
deed sorry for though in the past
Wrinkle has sometimes seen fit to
point the finger of ridicule at our
columns, this has been done in what
we consider good spirit. There will
always be a place in every univer-
sity for such a publication as Wrin
kle, and we tale this opportunity to
urge those who have any talent
along less serious lines or who per-
haps wield a pencil with ease, to get
together and save an old and re-
spected publication from an untimely
end.
