THE U. OF M. DAILY. Vi~c. of W~F. TXift. Published Daily (Sundays excepted) during the College s ear, by THE U. OF M. INDEPENDENT ASSOCIATION WE begin with to-day's issue to publish President Angell's address, delivered before yesterday's meeting of the Regents. Itis a valuable his- torical sketch of the past twenty years of the University's life, and should be read by every student. It will be issued in a serial of three numbers. Tn alumni list of the classes of '90 an '91, which the Dxi Y has pub- lished from time to time, has a very significant aspect. All the gradu- ates are holding responsible posi- tions over the entire country. A case is yet to be heard from, where a good place has not been readily obtained. This shows that the work of the University is appreci- ated from a commercial standpoint at least. COM MUNICATIQN. ' Editors U. or M. DAILY I was somewhat surprised yester- day to see posted on the bulletin boards, notices calling an election of the Prohibition Club to be held in Newberry Hall. Now, while this may be very right and proper, it is the opinion of your correspondent that the building of the Students' Christian Association should not be used for political purposes, even though the association received a money compensation ror such use. The University authorities have al- ways refused to let University Hall for the holding of any political meet- ing, and much less should Newberry Hall be used for such a purpose, es- pecially when there are so many other places in town that may be ob- tained for these meetings. If the members of one political party are granted the use of the building, as a matter of course it must be granted to all parties, for it is not to be pre- sumed that the committee in charge of the building would seek to fur- ther the interests of any particular party by allowing it to make use of the property of the S. C. A. to the exclusion of any other like organiz- ation. And if in the approaching presidential campaign our various political clubs are permitted the use of Newberry Hall for all their meet- ings, it will be putting it to a use not intended nor desired by the don- nors of the building, nor by the ma- jority of the members of the S. C. A. ONEDF'THE MEMBERS. U. of M. vs. Oberlin. Michigan will play Oberlin in Ann Arbor on Saturday the 24th. The game will be commenced at 3:30 o'clock, and will be played on the fair grounds.
