The first rehearsal of the Choral Union was heard last evening. A large majority of last year's chorus has returned and the vacancies will be filled by the best voices among the entering students. Professor Stanley wishes to raise the standard of the chorus this year, and he will not endeavor to increase the number above 250, about the size of last year's chorus. The following is a list of the concerts to be given this college year: November 30.-Detroit Philhar- monic Club, a quartette of stringed instruments, under the direction of William Yunck, Detroit's favorite violinist. December 8.-Ovide Musin, a vio - lin soloist of world-wide reputation. He will be supported by a company of vocal soloists. January 3o.-Whitney Mockridge, a tenor vocalist of Chicago, Arthur Breresford of Chicago, and a so- prano not yet selected. This will be strictly a song recital. February 12.-Choral Union con- cert, assisted by Mrs. Genevra John- son Bishop. It is not yet finally decided what work the chorus will sing. In May, dates not yet selected, will be given the Boston Symphony concert and another Choral Union concert. The tickets this year will be as formerly, $2.oo for the season of six concerts. The DAILY will make an- nouncements later concerning the purchase of tickets. The fem. sem. at the Northwest- ern , University is still muttering against the restrictions put upon them by the faculty recently.
