THE college journals all over the country are closing the foot-ball sea- son with ponderous editorials, and urging that practice in all branches of athletics should be kept tip dur- ing the winter months. Those who are most intimately concerned with foot-ball, have lost a great deal of time this fall much to the detriment of their college work. It is their duty to catch up. The U. of M. has always maintained a high stand- ard of work, and the increased inter- est in athletics should not lower this standard. The physical and intel- lectual parts of our nature should receive due attention, but one should not be emphasized at the expense of the other. A GREAT deal of dissatisfaction is being expressed among the students with respect to the uncertainty of the schedule of the Ann Arbor and Ypsilanti motor line. The treat- ment to which the party of students returning from Ypsilanti Sunday evening were subjected, is not cal- culated to increase the confidence of the public in the management of the road. The students had a right to become incensed at the failure of the electric car to make connection with the motor train. The railway management cannot excuse them- selves on the ground that they were unable to run their cars. The motor line officials said that they had no difficulty in running, and they had been met by an electric car on the next to the last trip. There was no reason why the electric car could not have mad connection with the last motor, as the storm had abated, nect with some regularity at the ad- vanced rate which went into effect yesterday, it is not improbable that the traffic will return to the Michi- gan Central. Both of these lines, the electric and the motor, are pub- lic corporations, and they are obliged to pay due regard to the rights of the public when they undertake to carry passengers. IF we wait long enough the inter- est accruing on the $40,ooo already raised, will build us gymnasium second to none in the country. Five of the Andover team will enter Yale next fall.
