RAPID TRANSIT, (Continued from First Page.) cars for the proposed service, and the item of track and wiring would, at a large estimate, come well under $2,000. During the past year there have been some 30 events at Regents Field, which were attended by 9,000 people. (I get these figures from managers.) There seems to be no question that quick and convenient service would largely ir- crease these totals. If we suppose only Fifty per cent of those who attend the games rode it would tax the present car capacity of the comany to its ut- most and could hardly fal to make in' the course of the year from 25 to 50 per cent for them on their increased invest- ment after deducting all expenses. One or two other points, though the subject is by no means exhausted, and I am done. In many places, notably at Cornell, where the athletic field bears the same relative position to the Uni- versity as here, members of teams, managers, &c., are sold books of 100 tickets for $3.00, and the simple going to and from practice fills many cars a day. There seems to be no reason why several practice cars should not be run every day even when there is no game for the convenience o many men, both those who practice and those who look on. In addition to this, I am informed it is only a question of time when the Athletic Association tennis courts, now inadequate to supply the demand, will. be replaced or supplemented by a num- ber of courts at the field. And further, if, as is expected, the new communica- tion with Detroit will bring alumni ad others here for the big games, there will be additional reason for better facilities. I offer, therefore, these scattred sug- gestions in the hope they may lead to some more definite plan and concerted action by street railway company and g students alike for the improvement of an existing state of affairs and for . mutual advantage, financial and ath- letic. WILBUR C. ABBOTT. Interclass Championship. The final inter-class game will be played this afternoon at 4:10 p. to. at o the athletic grounds between the '99 . and '01 lit teams. Both teams are put- 'ting up the best article of ball and a good game is assured. The admission has been reduced to 15 cents and a large crowd should be present to see the 0 championship struggle settled. y SPECIAL TRAINS SUNDAY, JUNE 19.
