The following expense accounts, showing the cost of a year of residence at the University of Michigan, will be of interest at the present time to mem- bers of the graduating classes of tMich- igan high schools. They are furnished by students who are enrolled in the lit- erary department. The men g will be all mounted either as troops or on the battery horses, which are six . to each gun. There are few such bat- teries in the army and the government is anxious to augment the numbers. A company of Minute Men has been organized at Brown University, and Pres. Andrews has stated his determin- ation to accompany them in the event 6. 8 of their being called. The entire number of university alumni and students of Syracuse, who are members of the 41st separate com- pany of National Guards, have volun- y teered their services for the Spanish -war. In the far west, at Leland Stanford, a company has been organized with the object in view of gaining a knowledge of military tactics. Three hundred undergraduates are drilling daily at Princeton. Their ser- vices are to be tendered to the Presi- dent in case they are needed. Illinois, Iowa and other Western col- leges also have their companies of stu- dents. CUT PRICES ON COLUMBIAS.
