The success that the iuron Canoe Club has met with in its first regatta indicates that there are nough stu- dents in college who would support such a club to make it a pernanent one. The interest that has been iani- fested since the regatta was lirst spok- en of a short time since bids fair to be on the increase, and 'he probability' is that with time canoeing will be one of the established branches of sport at Michigan University. The club nm- hers its largest membership among the '9s law class, it having been origiated by students in this class. ut these men will most of them leave college fcr goo. in a few weeks, and there must be members from other cassea to carry on the organization, build it un and make it permanent. For this reason each and every student who owns a canoe or is hterested in boating should be particular to join immediately before the ccse of the college year. The year of '98 promises to be one of successes for Michigan athletically as ovell a0 in other directions, and there culd be no fitter time than the present to mence this branch of athletics a suc- cessful one with us. Masonic Club is the only organization of its kind in exist- FOR STYLE, COMFORT AND ence, and the success it has achieved in the three years of its history war- rants the belief that whatever the club undertakes it will be successfully car- ried out. It is the intention c the club to have the members become closer af- filiated with the members of the Uni- versity faculty, who are honorary mem- bers, and have therefore selected four of the board of directors from the fac- ulty. These have signified their ac- ceptance and will aid the club in what- ever way possible. J. A. Montgomery, W. H. North and Paul Murrell were elected members of the club. A scheme was discussed which had for its aim toe sending out of an an- nual letter in order that the members of the club maay keep in touch with their alumni brothers. The attendance was large.
