'01 E, who has been ccnfined in the University hospital for the past three weeks, left yesterday for his home in Quincy, Mich. The announcement of a lawn fete to be given Saturday evening by the Wo- men's League was wrongly inserted for the one at Prof. Russell's by Dr. Mosher for the benefit of the trained nurse fund. Mr. J. R. Allen, of the engineering department, returned last Tuesday from Newberry, Mich,, where he has spent several days inspecting the heat- ing plant of the Newberry asylum. The plant was designed by Prof. Cooley. Champion Herrick. The championship tennis match be- tween Herrick and Danforth, which was left over from last fall, was played off yesterday at 4:30 p. m. The match was very close and spirited throughout and resulted in a triumph for Herrick. The first set was won by Herrick, score 6-4. In the second Danforth took a brace and won with a score of 6-4. The last set and the one which decides the match was won by Herrick by the same score, 6-4. Throughout the match the playing was considered even and strong on the part of both men. On account of the excellent work done Michigan can expect to see some good work in the dual meet with Chicago May 10. MARCH 3, 1898. The object of these anmendments will be primarily the establishment of a permanent de- bating board, to consist of members of the association and members of t he faculty. This is made necessary on ac- ceunt of the constitution of the Central Debating League, of which Michigan is a member. Owing to the lateness in the college year this committee will not report until next fall, when the amend- ments will be placed before the associa- tion for ratification.
