Raymond Clapp, of Yale, again broke the world's pole vault record Saturday by going over the bar at 11 feet 9 ins. Pennsylvania defeated Cornell and Columbia fell before Princeton in dual' athletic events Saturday. Notre Dame won the-Indiana inter- collegiate track and field champion- ship by a narrow margin over Purdue. The meet was held on Friday and Sat- urday. The various high schools throughout the state held athletic meets Saturday We are showing the largest and to select teams to represent them at most complete line of the inter-scholastic meet here Friday 1 day Beloit comes for one of the big games of the year, and on Friday and Saturday occurs the meet of the Michi- gan Inter-Scholastic Association. The oratorical contest of the Penin- sular Oratorical League will be held here a week from tonight in Newberry Hall. Ex-Regent Levi L. Barbour will preside. Gladstone Memorial Exercises. The department of oratory will hold memorial exercises in honor of William Ewart Gladstone in the near future. The portrait of the great orator and statesman occupies a prominent place in the room where the classes in oratory meet, and he is held up as one of the ideals to the rising young orators of the University. Although the program has not yet been definitely decided on, it is prob- able that it will consist for the most part of speeches by the men who have won honors in oratory and debate. NOTICE.
