At a meeting of representatives of the fraternities and sororities yesterday afternoon the following editors for next year's Michiganensian board were elect- ed: Assistant managing editor, Wm. M. McKee, Sigma Phi; sorority editor, Miss Seeley, Delta Gamma; editors, J. C. Os- borne, Sigma Alpha Epsilon, and Chas. Hole, Phi Kappa Psi. There was prac- tically no opposition to the ticket as elected. Chas. Delbridge, Sigma Chi, was the only other candidate in the field. The sororities have formed among themselves a scheme of rotation which will be a means of eliminating all dis- sention in the future from their part of the -election. It began with Gamma Phi Beta on the '98 Michiganensian and will continue through the rest of the sororities in the order of their establish- ment, Delta Gamma being second. The editors from the literary and engineer- ing departments have now been elected and it only remains for the senior laws to elect their representatives, when the board will be complete. Will Go To Illinois. Thomas W. Hughes, of the law de- partment faculty, has accepted a posi- tion as instructor in the University of Illinois law school at an advanced sal- ary. Mr. Hughes is reported to have said: "I resigned here because of the low salary paid and accepted the po- sition in Ilinsis because of the brilliant p:3spects of that University. The coan- mendable liberality of the Illinois leg- islature in making abundant appropri- ations for their university forms a striking contrast to the close-fisted pol- icy of our law makers, and the remark- able progress it has made during the past four years under the management of its president, Dr. A. S. Draper, prom- ises to make it the greatest state uni- versity of the west." LAST NIGHT'S CONCERT. First May Festival Concert a Brilliant Success. Every seat in University Hall was filled last night and standing room wis at a premium. The occasion was the first concert in the May Festval series, the "Manzoni" Requiem, by G. Verdi, being presented. The concert was in every way a success. The Choral Union made a briliant spectacle on the stage, and the nall, with its electric lights and new sea', presented a much more beautiful appearance than i did last year. The concert itself was excellent. The soloists fulfilled the fondest hopes of even the most critical auditor, while the orchestra and the Cheral Union showed a marked improsement over last year. Miss Stein was the star of the evening. Her voice was peculiarly sympathetic and rich and fall. Del Puente has a rich resonant baritone voice, and is fully equal to, if not better than, Campanari, who was first sched- uled to be here. The Choral Union dis- tinguished themselves and did justice to Prof. Stanley's hard labors, es- pecially were they fine in "Sanctus." The quartet in the fifth number on the program was especially line and re- ceived vociferous applause. Miss Stein's work in the sixth num- ber was something wonderful and toos the house by storm. Take it all in all, the concert was one of the best ever heard is Ann Arbor and augurs well for the success of this year's May Festival.
