On account of the May Festival, the regular monthly meeting of the Hospi- tal Circle of the King's Daughters will be deferred for one week. It will be held at Harris hall, on Saturday after- noon, May 21st, at half past 2 o'clock. Dr. W. B. Hinsdale has gone to Co- lumbus to attend the meetings of the Ohio State Medical society. Dr. Hins- dale will present a paper upon "The Cause and Significance of Certain Skin Symptoms in Disease." Requirements for admission in the medical department will be made much more severe in the fall of 191, but they are not stated. It is said that the fac- ulty contemplates making graduation from.the literary department a neces- sity. The University Calendar for 1897-98 was issued yesterday. It contains 350 pages and shows some important changes in the University. College will open two weeks earlier next fall and close at a correspondingly earlier date the following summer. The Anti-Saloon Club met in New- berry Tallirecently and elected the fol- lowing officers for the ensuing year: President,, . ;,M^ Hawkins: vice-presi- dent, t. T. Raab; secretary, W. R. Matthews; treasurer, Jas. S. Taylor. Several mattera of importance to the club were'discussed and great interest waas manifested.' The policy, of ~the club will be conservative and no detective or radical work is contemplated. The club will, however, hold firmly to its consti- tutional purpose and strive to accom- plish that purpose by methods which, will be justified by the faculty and stu- dent body.
