April inlander.
The Inlander for April came out yes-
terday. The number is one of the best
of those which have appeared this year.
The leading article is by Dr. Wenley
on the undergraduate study of phil-
osophy, in which he points out the var-
ious courses offered and their value to
a student acoerding to the course of
study which he is pursuing. John R.
Effinger, Jr., has an article on Daudet!
and the French Academy, which de-
scribes the celebrated French writer
and his relation to the academy. Kip-
ling's "An American," by Jessie S.
Gregg, is an excellent treatment of Kip-
ling and his poem "An American," in
which he takes off some American char-
acteristics in a rather unpleasant man-
ner. The article reviews the poem and
offers some needed explanation of moot-
ed points. George Wood Govert con-
tributes an extuemely interesting des-
cription of life at Yale as a freshman
sees it. Yale undergraduate life is viv-
idly pictured and contrasts with Mich-
igan student life are drawn. The ar-
ticle is one of the best on Eastern col-
lege life which has ever apepared in a
Michigan magazine. "Mr. Cruthers,"
a story by Roda Sellick, completes the
prose contributions.
"Trauer," a German poem by Irma
Heath; "Rondeau," by H. M. B.; "Even-
ing," by A. M. S., and a French trans-
lation of "Little Boy Blue," by V. E.
T., make up the poetry, a little disap-
pointing in merit as compared to the
prose.
Cardinal Pays Its Respects.
The Cardinal has the following to say
regarding Michigan's action in cancel-
ling all her games with Wisconsin:
