With this issue the DAILY sus- pends publication until Tuesday, April 25. Olympian Games in 1900. The DAILY wishes to call atten- tion to the following letter: ANN ARBOR, April 14, 1899. Editor U. of M. Daily, SIR-I enclose to you for publica- tion in the DAILY a letter from Prof. George E. Fellows, of the Univer- sity of Chicago, concerning the Olympian games which are to be celebrated in Paris in 1900. A post- er in French, giving a fuller account of what is to be done, can be seen in the trophy room in the gymnasium. I am sure it will interest the student community to know that the net pro- ceeds of the reception to Gov. Roose- velt amounted to $555.15. This sum has been turned over to the Athletic Association and will enable the baseball team to start on its Western trip without having to bor- row money. Very respectfully yours, A. H. PATTENGILL. "Baron Pierre de Coubertin, whose interest in athletics caused the revi- val of the Olympian games and who had charge of them in Athens in 1896, will also have the management in Paris in 1900. While I was vis- iting him last summer he fully out- lined to me the program and said that as the American athletes made such a creditable showing in Athens he hoped that a very large number would come from many different American institutions in 1900. He also made the request that I should present the matter to the institutions of the Middle West. I take this method of calling the attention of students to the games. Large post. ers have been sent and will be placed where all interested may see them." GEORGE E. FELLOWS, Univ. of Chicago, March, 1899. Thanks Extended. I wish to extend the thanks of the U. of M. Band to the management of the minstrel show for its liberal treatment and the benefit fund of $150. E. P. DEPONT, Mngr. Prof. Drake Abroad.
