The craze now for comedy of the
society school has induced Mr. Fred
Marsden to write "'My Wife's Friend.'
This play will be seen at the Grand
opera house, Saturday, Oct. .8, pre-
sented by first class company headed
by Mr. Wt. C. Andrews. Tile story
is strictly American, the action taking
place .in New Jersey, but the method
is of the English or French style. The
purpose is humorous to a degree.
The admirers of genuine comedy will
have a treat on Saturday, Oct. 26, at
lie GraindOpera House. when Mr.
W'i. C. Andrews and hiis fine company
will present the latest success, "My
Wife's Friend." "Cliarlie's Aunt" was
a pretty good fellow, and Mr. Froh-
man said the best card he ever offered
to the public, but it is pretty well ad-
initted that Mr. Andrews' play will
"go one better." It is more consistent
more laughable, and, what is more
truly American, notEnglish you know.
It is written by one of our own auth-
ors, Mr. Fred Marsden, and lie has is-
cated his story in famous New Jersey.
It must not, however, be understood
that "ly Wife's Friend" is a farmr
on the contrary he is a regular city
fellow, one of the thoroughbreds of
the metropolis of Elizabeth. SIr. An-
drews knows what lie is about When
he plays, the Jersey chappie, for he
is of the manor born and bred. In
short we will see a great perform-
ance which will not be buffoonery but
humor true to nature.
