THE U. OF M. DAILY. C fPised Daily (Sundays excepted) during Et[Coieve year. by THE U. OF M. INDEPENDENT ASSOCIATION. THE faculty are now investigating the recent hazing ontrage and are in a fair way to unravel the mystery. Should the guilty parties he caught they will he rightly dealt with in the most severe manner. IN another column the DAILY pre- sents the football outlook for next fall which is most encouraging. The present, however, is all important and the bad luck of the baseball team should be a stimulus for all to turn out on the next fair day and encourage the teain by their pres- ence and voicee Game Prevented by Rain. At present it looks as if the rec- ord of bonse gamnes this season is to be one of "games prevented by rain."' Both Northsvestern and our own team svere feeling in fine trim Saturdlay, and the rain, which came before the teams could get on the field, caused great disappointment all around. Northwestern wvas anx- ious for a second game, but could not stay over, so another game has been arranged for. The date will be Wednesday, May 16i, if consent can be obtained from the Board of Control for another game in the middle of the week. If not, the game will be played later on. the Y. M. C. A. There is great need in this new field for men of ability and education. The churches fail to reach the young men. The Y. M1. C. A. more nearly touches them than does any other organiza- tion. It reaches many through the attractirns- of its gymnasium, as it is far ahead of every other organiza- tion in amateur athletics. The ed- ucational idea has only begun to he developed, and is sure to result in the establishment of a systematic course. The director of so important a work as that of the Y. M. C. A. needs to be a diplomat, a financier, and a social leader. The professions are over-crosvded and could well spare some of their brightest young men for this work of general secre- tary, in svhich the densand is greater than the supply. Notice.
