YOU GO GIRLS: S veral Black College
LET'S DO IT AGAIN: Although he
uffered a parated houJder in the 10 to Sam Houston
tate last week, Steve McNair i expected to play in the
Alcorn-Mi i ippi Valley game thi weekend. Dubbed
the Magn tia Cia ic, thi year' game will celebrate the
10th anniver ary of one of the bigge t game in SWAC
hi tor}. Back in 19 4 before nearly 64,000 fans at Mi sis-
ippi Veteran Memorial Stadium in Jackson, an unde-
. feated Alcorn State team led by future NFL pro Issac Holt,
met the und feated Delta Devils featuring the combina
tion of nior wide receiver Jerry Rice and junior quarter
back Willie Totten. Back then it was Alcorn State's de
fen trying to top the Mi i ippi Valley Offense. Thi
year the role are rever ed. Alcorn lead the SWAC in
t tal offen e while Mis i ippi Valley i third in the
confer nce in total defense.

WHO IS FOR REAL: Living tone proved
la t week that they are no fluke. They were stopped three
time on the goal line last week to prevent them from
napping a 21-year 10 ing treak to WaS State. Neverthe
Ie ,they demon trated that they can be competitive with
anyone. The Bear travel to Peter burg this week to take
on Virginia State (HC) who rose to respectability last year.
l The matchup of former high chool coache Lou Ander
n and Rudy Abrams will be intere ting.
