On Thursday ev ning, June
16, a fund rais r for Alex Allen
III was held to rai e money for
his candidacy for Wayne County
Commissioner for the fourth dis
trict at Club Pena, which is lo
cated in the Fisher Building.
Allen is a product of the so
cial/political victories, struggles
and bloodshed of the 50's, 60's
and 70's. He could very well be
considered a sub tantial return
on an investment that present
and past African-American ac
tivists and leaders have given
their very lives for.
Because of their commitment
to social and economic changes
for their sons and daughters, Al
len is committed to "giving back"
by utilizing his talents and skills
to bring forth the services and
programs that will enhance
what our ancestors and forefa
thers have started.
Allen is a native Detroiter,
and a product ofthe Detroit Pub
lic Schools. Even during those
years, this young 11:1an was util
izing hi leadership and men
toring capabiliti by coaching
the Eastside Colts, which is a
part of (PAL), the Polic Athleti
League Program
