The Black Professional Secretari Association, headquar­ tered in Atlanta, GA, honored its newest operating chapter (Detroit BPSA) by selecting Detroit as its 1994 national confer­ ence site. "Sexual Harassment in The Work Place, " "Shoestring invest­ ing" on a Limited Budget, "The Professional Image, " a national "Code of Ethics" and "Performance Standards" arejust a few of the many workshop topics to be explored at the 1994 BPSA National Conference, (August 4 .. 7, 1994) at the Westin Hotel in Detroit, Mi. Men and women from around the country will meet in Detroit to discuss issu of importance in the work place, to engage in personal and professional skills building activities, to network with other office professionals, and to renew ae-: quaintances among BPSA members. Since 1985, BPSA has worked to enhance the professional­ ism of its members by promoting a system of communication to di minate information pertin nt to prof ional adv nee- ent, to 8$8ist he nat 11l'1b1e98il' omrt1�'M1tr df'ftHM!JY1 , and to promote educational pursuit. MEMBERSlllP BPSA is open to all persons sharing our goals. The Detroit chapter began operations in 1993. Members of the national office attended the installation ceremonies, re­ viewed the conference site and were treated to a special tour of the Motown Museum, From the starting point, the chapter engaged in an ambi­ tious activity agenda, including a series of mini-work­ shops/seminars, a garage sale, a gospel-fest and its premier annual meeting and elections in January, 1994. Amongthose invited to participate in the conference are Ms. Vernell Hughes, Human Resources Manager for Franklin­ Wright Settlements, Inc., Ms. Carole Sandelin, Account Execu­ tive for Entech Personnel Services and Calvin Boston, host of wrvs' "Color of Money." Also invited (pending confirmation) are Senator Carol Mosely-Braun of Illinois and motivational speaker, Lee Brown. A benevolent organization of Greek origin that means - edu­ cation and devotion (Delta), trong emotions (Sigma) and thankful; an appreciation for th association (Theta), the sorority is true to its motto: Reaching Out, Reaching Up; Delta Mak­ ing A Difference. I t has erected the Delta Manor, a Senior Citizens com­ plex located at 2501 E. Vernor, and recently created the Min­ erva Education Development Foundation, a pragmatic pro­ gram in that it provides shelter for its donors, enabling them to give to the scholarship while r - ceiving a tax write-off due its c.3 status.
