"How can we (Blacks) let this

White House drug-policy di

term "drug war." "You won't

'drug war" Brown says. "We
should help those who need help

W m GTON, D.C. - According to the 1 t t popul ion
proj ions reI by the Censu Bur u 1 t w k Hispan

minority by the year 2020. The bureau projects that Blacks will
number 45.4 million by 2020 and Hispanics will total 51.2
million.
The proportion of whites will al 0 decline. White Americans
cur ntly ccount for 83.3 of th nation' total popul tion.
But, if the Censu Bureau is right, that percents will d line
to 78.2 by 2020.
The report also uggest that th biggest factor influencing
population changes will be immigration. Disproportionately,
immigrants go to California, New York, Texas, Florida, New
Jersey and Illinois. The largest number of immigrants are
expected to be Spanish-speaking. But Asians are also expected
to grow rapidly within the next 30 years. The experts are
unclear as to whether the population shifts will lead to greater
or less ethnic 'trife.

Aristide blasts Clinton
Haitt policy as racist
WASHINGTON, D.C. - The exiled president of Haiti, Jean
Bertrand Aristide, last week denounced Clinton administra
tion policy toward his country, labeling the policy "racist."
Aristide was particularly upset with Clinton's continuation of
Bush administration policy in which refugees from Cuba are
eagerly accepted in the U.S. while refugees fleeing the oppres
sive regime in Haiti are forced to return.
According to Aristide - who was overthrown by the coun
try's current military regime - the U.S. policy toward Haiti is
"really a way of saying we don't care. " The ousted leader is also
frustrated that the U.S. has not done more to restore him to
power. Meanwhile, a Clinton spokesperson said, "Our policy
remains to restore democracy and restore President Aristide"
to Haiti.
