wor k ions all day on the
19th, and a Salute to the Elders
and Sharing of' th Touch Cere
mony on the 20th. Queen
Moth r Moore, Dr. John Henrik
Clark and Dr. Josef Ben Joc.ha
nan will be the Honored Elders.
Though every aspect of the
SORC is important, the work
sessions on the 19th are in
tended to be the heart of the
conference. It is in the work ses-
sions that participants will have
th opportunity to examin vari
ous mod Is and discuss how to
improve the work that they are
doing at th local level.
The African Centered Educa

(including' ues such a the
Blac family, h lth care, and
welfa reform) are among the
work sessions that will be in
cluded in the SORe.
The SORC is certainly a con
ference whose time has come. As
of this writing, a coalition of
groups in Washington, D.C. un
der the leadership of Campaign
for aNew Tomorrow is ,t>lanning
a State of D.C. Conference in
June as a lead into the National
State of th Race Conference.
Similar organizing efforts are
also beginning in Pittsburgh,
New York City, Boston and At
lanta. Many more cities are ex
pected to gear up over the next
few months.
