the first five scholarship recipi­
ents of the MoneyGram Scholar­
ship Fund for America's Black
Colleges.
The winners are: Detroit resi­
dent Mary J. Sidelko of Tus­
kegee University in Tuskegee,
Alabama; David V. Freeman of
Howard University in Washing­
ton, D. C.; Aaron M. Pegram of
Medgar Evers College in Brook­
lyn, New York; and Gerard R.
Desir and Roberta A. Stevens of
Morgan State University in Bal­
timore, Maryland.
The winners each received

Marine Corps Recruit Depot,
Parris Island, S. C.
During the training cycle, re­
cruits are introduced to typical
daily routine and study personal
and professional standards tra­
ditionally exhibited by Marines.
In addition to an activephysi­
cal conditioning program, clos -
order drill, first aid, teamwork
and self-discipline are also in­
cluded in the training cycle.
The Marine Corps has always
been an elite force ofindividuals,
and there will always be a need
for those individuals who are not
only tough, but smart.
She joined the Marine Corps
in September 1993.
