If e expect or niz tio li th NAACP and Urb n gu to promot and d fend t in t of Black peopl flee of intimidation from forces ternal to th Black community, then we as Bla people must tep up to the plate and put our participation and money on the line. In the first instance Black or ganizatio and Black leaders need to make it clear that they are prepared to promote Black interests without compromise. Then Black leaders and organi zatio need to systematically reach out to all sectors of the Black rommunity in a dramatic appeal for Black dollars to be used as a weapon in the truggle for liberation. WE NEED TO vigorously pursue strategies for economic empowerment to underline and secure political empowerment. We need to use Black consumer power to punish any corporation which threatens to withdraw its support from any organization fighting for the liberation of Black people. White America is not going to fund the kind of militant, un compromising and principled ,.n is ed to lib- erate the masses. TJIE LIBERATION of the masses of Black people requires the fundamental transforma tion of this racist and exploitive society. And that transformation cannot occur as long as our lead ing organizations and agencies are dependent on people, struc tures, institutions and systems whose interest and aspirations are not our own.
