a new permanent exhibition. "Door To
Freedom",' celebrating the Important
role Detroit played as a terminus on
the Underground Railroad. The exhi­
bition traces the route of the Under­
ground Railroad through the state of
Michigan and Identifies the many safe
stations, churches and homes within
the city and state where people es­
caping from slavery found refuge be­
fore crossing the border to Canada
