risk if food isn't being inspected.
Everett's concern was that food
should be the main priority.

stores in order for a store to be

AFTER THE HEARING,
Shabazz said the city council
skirted over a lot of issues.
"The SMSFF and the New
Marcus Garvey Movement fully
intend to deal with the whole
issue," Shabazz aid. "Because if
the government doesn't do any­
thing about it, we will."
Ida Hines, member of the
New Marcus Garvey Movement
and SMSFF, said she thanked
the city council for the hearing
and felt the council does have
the willingness to work with
them on the food issue and with
the merchants in Detroit.
"One accomplishment is that
the community will be watching
city council' since they left us
with open dialogue to follow up
on in future," Hines said.
The city council said that
Shabazz could be given another
opportunity to come back for an­
other hearing.
Also, after the hearing, Hef­
fron said MDA intended to
