I PROPOSAL A FAILS
Mrican American legislators are
doing everything in their power
to the plan stri out.
The proposal would use a
al tax to reduce property
taxes. But Detroit legislators .
said it is a regressive plan. Stu
dents in the public school system
would be the ultimate losers,
said Rep. Nelson Saunders, D
Detroit.
"I am unequivocally, no ques
tions asked, without a doubt
against this proposal," Saunders
id. "It is a regressive plan and
everything it will do will benefit
people with money."
Rep. Joseph Young Jr., D-De
troit, id his constituents have
made it clear that they do not
upport. the proposal.
