If we get involved, we can get
something done about it, - said
Eddie Jones, a resident on Terri
torial.
me commissioners agreed
that the license should be de
nied. "If we vote to deny the liq
uor license, the Michigan Liquor
Control Commission can still
override us and give them the
license, - Commissioner Charles
Yarbrough said.
COMMISSIONER RALPH
Crenshaw, chairman of the Pub
lic Safety Committee, stated he
commended the Smiths of want
ing to start a busin , but some
where decision had to be made.
-We have a tremendous prob
lem as for maintaining law and
order ... and we don't have the
wisdom and control over drugs
and alcohol and the violence in
the community, but we don't
want to enhance the problem,"
Crenshaw said.
Commissioner George Wysin
ger cast the only vote to approve
the license. "I can't sit here and
deny t e people a right to have
a business in th city. Tbey have
a right as well as churches to
function in the city," he said.
"When a person goes into a
convenient s re and buy a can

out into the st and act a fool

in, " Wysinger said.
"Th people are going to pay
tams in the city and the church
