defeat of David Dinkins in New
York, Detroit has beoome the
largest city with a Black mayor.

during a recent press confer­
ence. Just four years ago, the
five largest cities in America all
had Black mayors. Now, only
one of them does.
Jackson child
molestation case
set for March
SANTA ONlCA, CA - A Cali­
fornia superior courtjudge re­
cently set March 21,1994 as the
trial date for a civil lawsuit
charging that Pop music super­
star Michael Jackson sexually
molested a 13 year-old boy.
Meanwhile, Jackson's difficul­
ties deepened as two of 1Vs for­
mer security guards issued
statements saying the 35 year­
old used to sneak kids into his
room, if his parents were
around. According to guard
Leroy Thomas, "He instructed
us that we should keep (th ) kid
in the guardhouse until his par­
ents or brothers would leave."
From a secret location, Jackson
has denied any wrongdoing.

Clinton administration has be­
gun leaking some of its proposals
for reforming the nation's wel­

pear to be centered around
reducing welfare roles by giving
companies subsidies to hire
