community to support commu­
nity improvement.

Charles Kelly, Chamber of
Commerce President, was the
moderator, and panelists were
Dr. Thomas Lloyd, President of
Highland Park Community Col­
lege; John White, Assistant Su­
perintendent, Human
Resour and Labor Relations
for Highland Park District; Ti­
tu M lary, Highland Park
City Councilman; and Perrin
Emanu 1, Vice-President of HP
DEVCO.
The Mayor of Highland Park,
Lindsey Porter was at the meet­
ing and spoke briefly before the
panelists.

MAYOR PORTER said
there are a lot of meetings tak­
ing place which he's involved in
and one of meetings getting
ready to take place is with Gov.
Engler concerning casino gam-
bling. .
He said he couldn't stay long
due to a meeting with Chrysler
that required his presence.
Lloyd spoke to the businesses
about the efforts of the governor
and his staff �L close HPCC.
"They feel the college is out­
dated and because there are
other community colleges stu­
_ dents can attend," Lloyd said.
Lloyd said the structural
problems of the college building
pointed out by state officials in­
cl ude the sprinkler system in the
gym, abestos problem, and the
roofing.
Lloyd said they are in process
of working on those problems.

struction at Woodward and
Manchester which will open
next year which he y includes
a new Perry Drugstore.
Emanuel said that DEVCO
recognizes the need to keep busi­
n es informed but they should
recognize the needs in the com­
munity as well.
