Behind the headline, however, were facts and figures to be sorted out and understood, less we become more complacent and less concerned about the vio lence and crime that threaten to consume us. While total crimes reported to Pontiac police dropped 13.5% from 1991 to 1992, Pontiac still has the highest rate of crime per capita in Oakland County, meaning a Pontiac resident, anyone working here and living els where or anyone passing through, is far more likely to ex perience crime than in any other Oakland County Community. Crime rates are figured by the total number of crimes divided by th total number of cri.m divided by the population For a combination of reasons, Pontiac has been in a declining stage of population for the past ten years.
