DETROrr-CUBE (Christians
United in Busin Endeavors) is
non-profit Christian based busi­
ness organization of men and
women from area church who
are putting their beliefs into prac­
tice and creating a better city for
the young people.
CUBE has created Genesis
Ventures, its first program that
will not only educate community
youth, but will offer them employ­
ment opportunity.
"Our aim is to provide an at­
mosphere where individuals can
achieve their dream through
mentoring, computer and ace­
demic support, piritual guidance
and gainful employment," says
Rev. Harold C. Hugggins, Gene­
sis Board Chairman and pastor of
St. Stephen AME Church.
With prof ional and' volun­
teer support and corporate rom­
mitment from Daytoh Hudsons,
Genesis Ventures, Inc. will create
100 jobs in the city of Detroit
through a unique learning envi­
ronment, within its first y r of
operation. Disadvantaged youth
between the ages of 15 and 21 will
com pose the majority of the
"staff." .
Cosmetic and fragrance gift
baskets will also be assembled at
Genesis and distributed to all
.Hudson's cosmetic departments.
BEGINNING OPERA-
TIONS will include computer lab
training and creative designing
and packaging of giftables includ­
ing t-shirts, hats, greeting cards
and perishable and non-perish­
able gift baskets.
Genesis is located on the north­
west corner of Stansbury at West
Seven Mile Road (east of the John
C. I..OOge Expressway). The 6,500
square foot first level will include
warehouse space, office and the
retail showroom. The second level
will hou a 2,000 square foot
Computer Learning Lab and
Creative Design Center.
In addition to' the program's
initial funding, Hudson's will be
one of the "company'e" first cli­
ents. When customers order fresh
fruit baskets fOT the holiday sea­
son from the Marketplace depart­
ments at Hudson's Northland,
Eastland, Westland, Fairlane,
'Iw Iva Oaks OT Summit Place,
the orders will be packaged and
delivered by Genesis employ
