ganization, Act Three: The En­
semble Of Esthetic Value will
use a portion of the proceeds
from a September event to et up
a scholarship fund in the mem­
ory of a Highland Park youth
killed during a drive-by shoot­
ing, Nathaniel Scott, the chief
executive officer of th organiza­
tion aid.
A portion of the proceeds from
the play: Holy Ghost Love, which
will be performed at Monumen­
tal Baptist Church, 89 Grand
Avenue at 7p.m. Saturday, Sep­
tember 18 will be used to set up
a scholarship fund in the mem­
ory of Reubin Elder, the ten­
year-old honors student who was
killed on August 15. ,

A native Detroiter, Rev.
Ronald L. Bobo s-, was elected
president of the Youth Division
of the Baptist World Alliance at
it's meeting August 22 in
Harare, Zimbabwe, Africa.
Rev. Bobo is the son of Mr.
and Mrs. Wallace Bob of Peo­
ple's Baptist Church, Detroit,
and in his seventh year as pastor
of West End Baptist Church, St.
Louis, MO. Prior to his election
to president, he was chair of the
Interna tional program of the
Youth Division.'
Baptist leaders from around
the world were there to witness
the election of Rev. Bobo, and at
the same time pledged to fight
racism and poverty. They also
agreed that racism is rooted in
the sinfulness off mankind and
they pledged to work to bring
together people as brothers and
sisters in Jesus Christ.
A year ago the WBA organ­
ized a special commission on
Baptists Against Racism, which
was formed after the riots in Los
Angeles. It's honorary chairm n :
is former President Jimmy Car­
ter.
Specifically, the resolution
condemned the current violence,
and calls for an non-South Afri­
can peacekeeping force to assure
nothing is done to subvert the
planned 1994 multi-racial elec­
tions.
