If an offender is given a life
sentence, they are eligible for pa­
role, but must be sent to prison.
Second degree murd rs are not .
eligible for probation.
According to a report in the
Detroit News, the average sen­
tence given by Judge Crockett
for second degree murder is 19.2
years.
