He appointed a committee to head the jubilee celebration
banquet on November 5 at the Westin Hotel to be M:s., G.A.
Thompson and Mrs. Marie Ballard, and recommended that the
extended session in November would cover three days instead
of the traditional two days.

the moderators and Rev. Jam Dorsey of S ginaw ell' n

Rev. Aldridge suggested the board look in to the 1994 and/or
the 1995 session of the convention be held in Detroit, preferably
at the Westin Hotel, or the Radisson Hotel.

vention USA, Inc. at Madison Square Garden in New York City.

The Baptist Missionary & Educational Convention ofMichi­
gao, which closed Friday at the New Prospect Baptist Church,

of the 4th Marine Expeditionary
Force-Religion (MEFREL) 713 of
the Great Lakes Naval Reserve
Readiness Center. The MEFREL
unit that Commander Turman will
lead trains Navy chaplains for
service with Marines throughout

Ruth Merchant, a long time
resident in Highland Park, and.
the coordinator of the committee
charged with raising the neces­
sary funds to make to memorial
library a reality, received the
certificate from Highland Park's
Ombudsman; Earl O. Wheeler.
The certificate read: "In mem­
ory of Ronald Merchant, Jr. may
it be known by all who read this
that this certificate has been
presented to Ruth Merchant for
outstanding contributions to the
city of Highland Park,"
Ronald Merchant, -Jr.; Mrs.
Merchant's son, was slain in De­
troit on October 8, 1988. He will
be the first honoree in the me­
moriallibrary.
