ThE' lfi-million member Southern Baptist Convention (SBC)
is gaining annually by Black churches joining. In 1992 Black .
church rep ented I than three percent, which accounted
for mor ha n one-fourth of the SBC net gain in number of
churches.
Th repo ,by th Baptist Sunday School Board, headquar­
tered in ashville, id there were 990 Black churches in SBC
in 1992, up rom the previous year, the convention as a whole
increa ed by 237 churches.
The report also s id ongoing Sund y school enrollment for
the BC incr ed from 110,538 in 1991 to 118,216 last year,
an increase of7,678.
'The Black church has increased in discipleship training,
mu ic ministry enrollment, Brotherhood enrollment and tithes,
offering and pecial gifts.
