The uit was filed on behalf of
the ive by George L. Forb , pr i­
dent of the Cleveland chapter of th
NAACP and former Cleveland
City Council president. The uit
filed Tu day ked the court for $5
million in damag and an order
barring Denny's from di criminat­
ing.
The defendants in the suit are
Denny' Inc. based in Spartan­
burg, S.C., and three affiliated
companies that own 'the chain 0
1.300 r taurants nationwide.

effort to impo e an international oil
embargo against Haiti got under way
recently at a meeting in New York
involving official from the United
States, France, Canada and Vene­
zuela.
U.S. officials said the effort could
lead to United Nation anction
against Haiti if there i ufficient inter­
national upport .
. The Organization of American ,
Stat recommended hemi pheric
anctions against Haiti in October
1991, but oil and other g ds have,
connnued to arrive in Haiti, enabling
the military-dominated regime, to ur­
vive.
