repay college loans could force
some predominantly Black college
to clo e their doors. According to a
pokesman for th institutions, Sa­
muel Myers, "It would be the death
knell for many of our institutions."
The policy, which was instituted
in 1990 cuts schools off from fed­
eral tudent financial aid programs
if more than 30 percent of former
tudents fail to repay their loans.
Myers estimates that over half of
Black COllege would be dropped
from th finan ial aid program if th
policy i enforced. The deadline for
th Black colleg i July I, 1 4.
