"During non-duty hours when City Hall was
closed, Mr. Denni Knowle and others, fully
conscious, with willful intent, and a measure
of forethought and planning, attacked me and
attempted to do great bodily harm to me while
I was performing my official duty as-an elected
government official," Turner said.

Pete Rhodes, 55, of Benton Har­
bor, died March 14, at Ann Arbor
. Veterans Hospital. .
The funeral was held March 19, at
Fellowship Bapti Church, Benton
Harbor. Burial w in Crystal Springs
Cemetery. Arrangements was by
Robbins Brothers Funeral Home,
Benton Harbor.
Mr. Rhodes was born August 13,
1937, in Memphis, Tenn. He was for­
merly employed at Star Metal Finish­
ing Co. and w a elf-employed
barber, He was an Army veteran and
a member of Dorie Miller Post 410,
American Legion.
Survivors include: his mother, Es­
ter Johnson or Benton Harbor; a
brother, Elmer of Bentore Harbor; a
sister, Rosie Montgomery of Tipton­
ville, Tenn.; three sons, Shante Bow­
man of Benton Harbor, Presley jr. of
Richmond, Va., and Bryan of Cali­
fornia; one daughter, Ashley Wysin­
ger of Benton Hamor; and one
grandchild.
