ABLE: The VA has scholarshi
available for the 1993-94 school year
for members of the Selected Ready
Reserves who pursue careers in nurs­
ing, as well as occupational or physi­
cal therapy. The Reserve Member
Stipend Program offers financial
pport to associate degree nursing
students in their last year of study,
and third- and fourth-year tudents in
ccalaureate or entry level masters'
degree programs in nursing, occupa­
tional therapy, and physical therapy.
Applicants must be members of the
Selected Ready Reserves and
eligible for the Montgomery GI Bill
(Selected Reserve). Recipients
receive $400 monthly for ch
month of full-time service, and must
agree to serve as a full time
registered nurse, or occupational or
physical therapist in VA medical

tion Empowerment Foundation at a
brunch saluting "Women in the
Church: Catalysts For Ecomic Em­
powerment" on Saturday, March 27, .
at Mt. Zion Bapti t Church, 3534 Van
Dyke beginning at 11:30 a.m.
Th event wll mark AA WEEF's
fir t effort to 'acknowtedgc the
women in the metro Detroit com­
munity who have actively improved
the quality of life for other through
involvemnt with church cholarship
and educational programs.
AA WEEF was organized to pro­
vide scholar hip to African
American women, ages 25+, who
desire to continue their education
regardle of their field of study and
serve as a clearing-house for educa­
tional re ources.

local churche about their programs
