to the local community, the Council
has given Detroit' religious com­
munify a pre ence that is felt in all
sectors of the community, including
civic, busine and governmental or-
. ganizations.
In recent years the Council has
bee me increa ingly involved in the
j sues of education, violence reduc­
tion and economic- development by
working in concert with City and
County officials.

a pivotal role in the election of Bill
Clinton t th White House. Begin­
