Construction has just started on
another development, a 120 family unit
development at Forest Avenue and the
John Lodge Service Drive called
University Qub Apartments.
The UCA District Council hopes to
have three more housing developments
in the next three years and a shopping
center to serve residents there.
CALLENDER SAYS "the future
looks bright" for the community, but
there is an element of regret that an
important goal has been lost. The
struggle against urban renewal in the
60s was largely an effort to get housing
for people of all income levels.
Callender notes that under the
Reagan and Bush years, there bas been
an elimination of subside's for poor
people to move into housing.
