tainers, and promotional com
panies. G ddess cold Madina is

field. She ho ts her own T.V.

written by her will

fibers of your
heart and will go
down in musical
history as one of
those great ballads.
.-
Goddess Cold Madina has
received great respect from na
t 1 P am,mer,
Ice T, Big Daddy Kane, Public
Enemy jut to name a few.
Madina had a cameo appearance
in 357's "Straight At You" video,
and worked very close with Ham
mer when he filmed his video in
the Detroit Area.
Goddess Cold Madina broke
into show business at the tender
age of sixteen s a popular dance
on "Swinging Time" a dance
show' which wa aired in
. Windsor, Canada. She recalls
when Marvin Gaye was on the
show and during his Motown
days, where he danced in shows
with The Temptations, Gladys
Knight, and Stevie Wonder.
Believe it or not Goddess Cold
Madina is the mother of seven
talented and beautiful daughters
and one son.
Why would a mot r wife,
T.V. show host, and part owner of
a management-production co.
want to venture into yet another
challenging career? Goddess
Cold Madina feels that you can't
allow yourself to become bored
with self. That you must instantly
allow yourself to grow and
develop mentally, physically, and
spiritually. Surround yourself
around people who are positive,
and have a cultural balance in life.

film "Poetic Justice," which stars
Janet Jackson.
Miki knows tha t the new era of
entertainment requires a multi
dimensional identity and, al
though singing is her true
passion, she plans to make ·her
"
mark in the entire entertainment
realm. Beautiful, sensuous, and
abundantly gifted, Miki Howard
is a consummate vocal artist with
the brightest of futures. Femme
Fatale simply clinches it.
BLACK continued from 81
portunity to join his traveling
r adshow - that night. An over
whelmed Black went home,
packed his bags (literally a
. cardboard box) and he was on the
plane the next morning!
DAVID WAS ON the road for
four months, during which time
David sang "My My My" in the
middle of each set. In Beaumont,
Texas, when he first hit the stage,
the audience booed his presence;
by the time he finished singing,
he'd brought down the house.
One performance in Long Beach,
California was particularly
memorable: "Johnny Gill was c
tually in the audience! I was kind
of nervous knowing the guy who
. recorded the song was listening to
me, but I met him backstage after
wards and he said I did good." Of
cours ,pullingintoMontgomery,
Alabama-where friends and
family watched him perform
was a special thrill.
Soon, Black, having re-located
to Fremont, California, was at
work recording. He sang on the
cut, "Why Can't We Live
Together" from Hammer's multi
platinum Too Legit To Quit LP,
and in August '91 began record
ing his own album. "Working
with Steven Russell and Felton
Pilate was a learning experience, "
says Black, who exudes a country
boy charm that is refreshing in
today's music biz. "They
brought out the best in me, taught
me how to sing certain things. It
was like being in school. "
When he's not making.music,
David likes to play basketball,
continue to develop his songwrit- .
ing talents and take simple walks
in olitude. "I don't require a lot"
he says. "I'm a quiet type of per
son. But I would like to fultill my
dream of becoming a superstar.
I'd like one day to be considered
one of the best singers in the busi
ness. " Such is a tall order for
anyone, but with "Loving Ain't
Easy", David Black has already
taken the first step. .

ANSWERS TO
BLACK HISTORY QUESTIONS
11th - Launched on June 26, 1919 by Marcus Garvey. It owned
at one time three vessel, all of dubious worth and leaky: the
Yarmouth, Kanwanaha and the Shadyside.
, 12th - Suttles was a powerful free-swinging hitter of the Negro
Leagues in the 30s. Fans used to urge him Ion by hollering, "Kick,
Mule!" Bell, playing at the same time, is believed to have been the
fastest man to ever worn a baseball uniform. Myths abound about
him: he could tum off a light switch and be in bed before the lights
went out.
13th - Ghana.
14th - Eubie Blake (very possibly from Shuffle Along or
Chocolate Dadies).
15th - Isaac Lane, of the CME church. He was a bishop of that
denomination.
16th - About 500,000 of 24 million.
17th - Robert Smalls, who later became a U.S. representative
from South Carolina.
