Every man, woman and child in Russia will,
by year' end, have received 10,000 rubl

mGBLAND PARK - A special
"Short and Long Range Review
Committee" of citizens appointed by
the Highland Park School Board
challenged findings on Highland
Park Community College, but in
some areas called even more strongly
for austerity in travel and waste in
staff.
The Highland Park committee
questioned the objectivity of the
group appointed by the state board
charging that it was biased, because
"the majority were selected from
competitive institutions" and on one
point accused it of "age and racial
bias."
Although the deadline for the local
report was near the end of September,
aU members of the committee re
quested further time so that "a more
in-depth review" could take place.
The school board unanimously
agreed to allow further time to the
committee, so that it could "study fur
ther the portions of the report that we
were unable to thoroughly review and
make final recommendations to the
board at a later time."
Trustees and staff should be able to
answer the question "Why should
HPCC continue?"
It maintained that HPCC shQuld
"continue to provide career oppor
tunities for employment" and "assist
in the building of Highland Park,
citing:
- "The critical importance of
education beyond the bigh chool
level to all persons, particularly those
in urban communi tie for whom
educational and employment oppor
tunities must be as wide possible to
be lifted from dependency to become
productive tax paying citizens."
- The importance of "educating
