Cleo Troup, 92, can remember all
too well the day that intruders, took
over her home and forced her to live
in an unbearable situation. Sh aid,
"New Light came to my re cue and I
thank the good Lord for "ringing me
to this nursing home. If it hadn't been
for Mr. Talley and hi taff," aid
Troup, "I would have died. !bey to�k
me in when I was down SIck and In
need of help. I will always be grateful
to Mr. Talley and hi staff," he
stated.

ing homes use nursing pool there­

aid, "We do not use nursing pools,

Being a non-profit organization,
the nursing home i 'alway in need of
volunteers to as ist in reading, feed-

residents are without familie and

delivered on August 31, 1992 to

The order read, "Because of ex­
treme insanitary conditions which
pose a potential threat to food safety,
we are hereby suspending your food
establishment license pursuant to the
Michigan Food Processing Act,
1978 therefore, the Director of the
Michigan Department of Agriculture
hereby finds emergency action for
the public health, safety and welfare,
for the following reasons:
- Animal and insect fecal matter
on the retail food storage shelves.
- Extensive cockroach infesta­
tion in the retail areas of the store,
Live roaches were on the retail area
shelves and floor.
- Various package foods in the
retail area were adulterated due to
the presence of live cockroaches and
insect fecal matter inside and/or on
the product packaging.
- Dead flies and roaches on
-retail shelves, on window storage
platforms and along various floor
boards.
- A urine-like order permeated
the retail area.
- The refrigerated service
counter shelves contained dead
cockroaches along with moldy, un­
covered foods. The personal- - foods

AFTER REPEATED warnings
'from the Michigan Department of
Agriculture to clean up, the above
conditions finally lead to the closing
of Magas Market.
According to Dr. Heffron,
divisional director, for the Michigan
Department of Agri�ulture Aore�ce
Janiszewski, was given several CIta­
tions coupled with warnings to com­
ply.
"I feel that the couple's age
played a major part in the l�cens�re
revocation. We tried working WIth
them to bring them up to code. After
several months, it became clear that
we would have to revoke their
license," Dr. Heffron stated.
In an interview, Anthony Janis­
zew ki, 75, husband of the owner
•. said they were not giving up, that
they would continue to sell non-food
mercha nd ise from the store.
"We were treated unfairly." he aid,
"They made us pend thousands of
dollars fixing thi place up and they
till closed us down."
In recent weeks, it was revealed
through the Michigan Citizen that
