"Law has a responsibility to al­
ways bring order to a ituation, not to
be a participant in disorder," said

ty Sheriff's Department said
deputies "took physical control" of
the men after they became combat­
ive and failed to follow deputie '
orders.
A WOMAN WHO answered the

said Sheriff Charle Cox was out of
town and not available to comment.
She said the department's only
response was the report filed by
deputies.
Trammell said the two victims
were Black and the deputies white.
"I most emphatically think it was
racially motivated," he said.
