Nicotine Skin Patcb Help Smo ers Quit
Until recendy nicotine gum w the only method of nicotine replace
ment therapy approved in the United States. Nicotine gum has been
helpful in amotin cessation for many individuals. , However, many
people quit chewing the gum prematurely, or they do not use the COlleCt
chewing technique:
Much of the intere in the nicotine skin patch, follow recent finding
by various research groups. Accordin to a recent i ue of American Family
PIaYlic�, the ults of 10 different tudi are encouraging. In nine of ,
the studi a nicotine skin patch was more effective than placebo (blank)
perch in helpin, people quit smokinl. In all ten studie the rate at which
people were able to atop smokin w approximately twice the rate for

rouahly one-half of the amount normally obtained from cigare SOlO e.

patches are applied to a dry, non-hairy part of tile body, uch as the stomach
