The youth ministry of Chapel Hill
Baptist Church will host a youth
week called "Youth & Young Adults
maturing spiritually in the grace and
knowledge of Jesus Christ."
From Friday, August 7th through
Saturday, August 15 activities will
be planned for all young people to

is a state of mind so all young adults

Something to
sing about
Detroit is a mecca for gospel
music, that' why Thorn Apple Val­
ley is pleased to announce its 3rd
annual "Something to Sing About"
Gospel Cholr Celebration. This year,
Thorn Apple Valley will generously
donate all proceeds from the "Live
Celebration" to the Detroit Area
Agency on Aging "Meals on
Wheels" program.
The "Something to Sing About"
Gospel Choir Celebration is a talent
contest for both chuch and com­
munity choirs. There are two phas�s
of the competition. The first phase IS
the "Voting Process" which involves
generating votes by collecting Thorn
Apple Valley package labels or fill­
ing out 30 cards. The second phase
is the "U�e Celebration" on Satur­
day, August 15, 1992 at Orchestra
Hall in Detroit. The "Uve Celebra­
tion" Concert will spotlight the eight
officially registered church and com­
munity choirs that collected the most
votes. Tickets are $5.00.
The eight officially registrex:d
choirs collecting the most votes WIll
consist of two small congregaton
choirs, two medium congregati?n
choirs, two large congregation choirs
and two community choirs. Each
will perform and have the chance to
claim their share of more than
$15,000 in cash and prizes. Several
prominent go pel industry repre­
sentatives will act as the panel of
judges.
