Holloway wa elected Secretary of the MCCA Executive Bo rd, after nomination by MCCA Presi­ dent Robert J. Kent, a Kalamazoo Valley Community College trus- I 1952, he launched L.J. Minor Corp., working to improve ravies, nd 16 million , when he tepped down owner. He h been Chairm n Emeritu nd Senior Scientific Consultant ince 1985. Dr. Minor ha been a edu tor well busine man. He tau ht t Roc y River High School in uburban Clevel nd in 1959-60, nd wa vi iting profe - or in MSU' School of Hotel, Re taurant and In titutional Management (HRIM) from 1964 to 1984. He lore earched and wrote on food flavor and quality. In January 1992, Dr. Minor and hi wife, Ruth E. Minor, pre ented the HRIM school with a 1 million gift to create the first endowed chef faculty po ition in any col­ lege in the world: The Dr. Lewi J. and Mrs. Ruth E. Minor School of HRIM Chef de Cuisine. In addition to the recent com­ munity college alumnus award, Dr. Minor ha earned many profes ional citations. Born in H rbor B h in ichig n' Thumb, Dr. inor gr du ted from the former St. Benedict' High School in Hi h­ land Park in 1933, and from what w ormerl y Highland P rk Junior Colle e in 1937. Dr. 'nor earned B.S. in Or- anic Chern! try nd Ph ics from Michig n State College (now Unive ity) in 1939. He received a M.S. in Analytical Chemistry from Wayne (now State) Univer- tty in 1944, and Ph.D. in Food Science from MSU in 1964. He did further tudy in food dehydra­ tion and irradition at world­ renowed Ma achusett Institute of Technology (MI1) in 1965. Dr. Minor wa technical direc­ tor for LaChoy F od in Detroit (1940-42) and re earch manager for Owen -Il l i noi in Toledo (1943-44).
